1. Didn’t check the conversion chart first.
2. Didn’t properly clean the MUSCLE.
3. Other solutions (such as Acetone) have damaged the dye-ability of the
MUSCLE.
4. MUSCLE was in for too long/short.
5. The dye was too old.
6. Didn’t properly wash the MUSCLE after dying.
There are other problems that are correctable:
One of the most common is when the dye doesn’t seem to penetrate into the
cracks and grooves of a MUSCLE. This is easy to correct. First, pull the
MUSCLE out and wash him extra close with a toothbrush. Make sure to penetrate
into each crevice. Next, get him as dry as you can. Then dip the MUSCLE into
the solution and pull him out. Lay him down on something hard like a pane of
glass (so he doesn’t stain your counter). Take the butt of your toothbrush
and dip it into the solution. It will pick up excess dye. Hold it over your
MUSCLE and let it drip into the grooves. If you can find a toothbrush with a
rubber point at the butt, use that butt to push the dye into the crevices.
Leave MUSCLE to soak. It should dye the crevices it missed before.
If you just don’t like the color, there is only one way to go -- darker.
MUSCLEs cannot be dyed any lighter. You can’t take a dark blue MUSCLE and
make him yellow. But you can take a golden-orange MUSCLE and dye him black.
If you don’t like any of the colors that turn out, throw them in black and you
will soon have a black MUSCLE.
