MUSCLE Dashboard
What are MUSCLEs? M.U.S.C.L.E.s, also called MUSCLE men or MUSCLE things, are small figures from the 80s with an "intergalactic wrestling" theme (M.U.S.C.L.E. is an acronym for Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere). Produced by Mattel, M.U.S.C.L.E. toys were available in the familiar 4-packs, 10-packs and 28-packs, and had a M.U.S.C.L.E. Wrestling Ring accessory, among others. Our M.U.S.C.L.E. toys originate from Japan, where they were based on characters from the cartoon, Kinnikuman.
MUSCLE 10-pack In this site, you'll find accurate and up-to-date detailed M.U.S.C.L.E. toy collecting information; pointless fun crap featuring M.U.S.C.L.E. toys; links to other great M.U.S.C.L.E. toy pages; and the infamous Fox and Tortle Show! Mrted52 over at the Little Rubber Guys Forums found this awesome live-action wrestling show based on Kinnikuman! Sure, it's cheesy, but it's fun to see the colorful Kinnikuman costumes in action! I'd love to get my hands on some of these cool masks!

If you're a Romando fan, you'll likely want to check out this link:

http://www.romandou.net/

It's a Japanese site dedicated to Kinnikuman Romandos. I'm not sure if it's an official site or not (it doesn't look like it judging by the design), but the page has some pretty awesome pics of upcoming action figures. Check it out! (Credit should be given to jkaris and jakkman420 for making me aware of this site.)

New Romandos et al. - Jan 10, 2009
If you haven't been over to Naochin's Kinkeshi Archive recently, you might want to check it out. He has pics of many upcoming Romandos, like Cannonballer (MUSCLE #203) and Leoparudon (MUSCLE #175). There also appear to be smaller-scale figures of battle-damaged Robin Mask and Kinnikuman! Check out the pics here!

It's that time of year when everyone gets reminiscent of the past year. Here's a review of the most significant MUSCLE stories featured on Nathan's MUSCLE Page in 2008:
  • Kinnikuman 29th Anniversary: Japan celebrated 2008 as the 29th anniversary of Kinnikuman, complete with an official Kinnikuman day, Kinnikuman film festival, and a re-release of Kinkeshi figures with a DVD box set. It was a great time for those MUSCLE fans with access to Japanese imports!

  • MUSCLE Archive Update: I performed the long, arduous task of updating the images in the MUSCLE Archive with higher resolution shots of all MUSCLEs. I also included notes specific to each figure. It was a pain, but I think it was worth the effort.

  • ToyFare MUSCLE Coverage: In February, ToyFare ran an issue showcasing MUSCLEs! The article was relatively in-depth and they ran a basic MUSCLE price guide in the same issue. The issue is certainly worth picking up if you can find it.

  • Green Hulk Factory Error: Not to be repetitive since the story is right below, but I think this warrants mention in the highlights of this year.
Next year will hopefully be as eventful as this one. Veers is working on his University of MUSCLE website, which may be 100% next year. And I still have more plans for this site in the coming year.
